Bad Brain Food Explained

In my previous post, I discussed the kinds of foods that are good for your brain and exactly how they affect your brain functions and help increase your brain power . Were you able to experience for yourself the unique benefits of legumes, fruits and the likes?

In today’s post, I will share with you those foods that are considered bad for your brain. You may already know this but still, it’s good to be reminded of them from time to time.

Alcohol, Nicotine and Fats

It is common knowledge that alcohol is a no-no for the brain. It is something that goes straight to the bloodstream, killing brain cells in the process. No wonder you’d get tipsy or worse, drunk, and would lose control over your speech and motor skills. Nicotine, on the other hand, constricts your capillaries causing restriction of blood flow to your brain. With no blood flow, there is no oxygen. And with no oxygen, you have poor brain functioning. Hydrogenated fats, though more subtle in its effects, can still cause heart disease by clogging the arteries which is similar to what nicotine does to capillaries. In the long run, alcohol, nicotine and hydrogenated fats can kill you faster. Therefore, a change in diet is a must. The sooner you eliminate these things from your diet, the better.

Artificial Food Substances

Another type of substance that can cause decrease your brain power are the artificial colorings and flavorings that are present in processed food. They cause erratic fluctuations in blood sugar levels causing mood swings, fatigue and erratic behavior. You don’t need to memorize these foods. Just stay away from all refined flour and sugar products (potatoes aren't so good either if taken excessively).

In order for you to understand it better, here’s an explanation:

Carbohydrates you take in are eventually turned into blood sugar and 20% of these carbohydrates are used by your brain. Your brain prefers to have a steady supply of blood sugar rather than a huge supply of it. That is why blood sugar fluctuation is a no-no. This happens when you go on a yo-yo diet such that one day you eat a lot in one sitting, the next day you go on an extreme diet. It would be better if you eat plenty of times in a day but in small amount. This way, your blood sugar is at a steady flow. Do note that simple carbohydrates like processed flour products and sugary foods can cause wild fluctuations. Wild fluctuations cause sugar rush into the bloodstream. When this happens, there’s a rush of insulin which leads to hypoglycemia or plunging blood sugar level which in turn causes the release of adrenal hormones or having that “sugar high” feeling. With these sugar highs and sugar lows, you will be sure on your way towards irritability, mood swing, sleepiness, inattentiveness, etc., all of which are not conducive for maximum brain functioning.

Always remember that complex carbohydrates are the best brain foods. They help increase your levels of brain power. Their molecules are long so the intestines take a lot of time to digest it into simple sugars that the body can use. This then causes a steady supply of sugar into the bloodstream rather than the fluctuation which I have described above.

In addition to these things, having a better IQ will also boost your brain power. Check this site and see if it can also help you like it did a lot of other people.

Brain Food, Want Some?

In some of my previous posts, I’ve mentioned about food that can help increase your brain power such as drinking the right amount of caffeine, taking Gingko Biloba and eating fish. However, these are not the only ones that do a wonderful job in boosting your IQ.

In this post, I will give you more examples of food that are good for your brain and we’ll call them “Brain Foods”. Like the name suggests "Brain Food" are those that aide and enhance your brain function. Fish, for example, is rich in omega 3 fatty acids which clear blockages in blood vessels therefore allowing the nerve cells to function at an optimum level. This is why it is crucial to eat fish at least twice a week. For people who dislike the taste of fish, you may take omega-3 fatty acids supplement.

Here are some more examples of food that are considered “Brain Food”:
Avocados, Bananas, Beef, lean Brewer's yeast, Broccoli, Brown rice, Brussels sprouts, Cantaloupe, Cheese, Chicken, Collard greens, Eggs, Flaxseed oil, Legumes, Milk, Oatmeal, Oranges, Peanut butter, Peas, Potatoes, Romaine lettuce, Salmon, Soybeans, Spinach, Tuna, Turkey, Wheat germ, Yogurt.

Foods that have low glycemic index (GI) are considered good for your health because they slow down the distribution of sugar in your blood stream. Fruits naturally have low glycemic index which prevents one from having the so-called “sugar rush” and “sugar crash”. The whole ones rank lower than juices because the natural fiber slows down the absorption of fruit sugar. These are grapefruit, apples, cherries, oranges, and grapes.

Cereals and grains like oatmeal and bran are best. Spaghetti and rice also have a relatively low GI as compared to corn flakes sugar-coated cereals and white bread which have higher GIs. The higher the GI, the faster the release of sugar into the bloodstream and the quicker one will feel tired and lethargic. How can you think properly if you’re feeling sluggish, right?

Vegetables and legumes like soybeans, kidney beans, chick peas, and lentils are great brain foods because these vegetables contain the lowest GI. Potatoes and carrots are not that good for brain power because they have a much higher GI.

Dairy and milk products have low glycemic indexes. It’s a bit higher than legumes, but lower than fruits. Nevertheless, they are still good for the brain.

The way you eat your food also has an effect on the way your body and brain use these foods. For example, if you eat foods high in sugar after you eat legumes may still delay the absorption of sugar, thus preventing sugar blues. Fats and ice cream do the same as compared to low fat yogurt with sugary fruit. Also, try not to overcook starches because this would be like pre-digesting them, causing them to release sugar into the blood stream a lot quicker.

Proteins provide amino acids that help increase brain power. Amino acids such as tryptophan and tyrosine are the building blocks of neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are our brain’s signal carriers from one brain cell to another. Therefore, feeding these carriers with amino acids via proteins we eat are good for overall brain functioning.

Proteins helps optimize brain performance. They contain amino acids, the building blocks of neurotransmitters. They are the ones that carry signals from one brain cell to another. Therefore, the better you feed these messengers, the more effectively they will enhance your brain power.

These are the good brain foods that you must be sure to eat to help maximize and optimize your brain power. In my next post, I will discuss the kinds of food that are bad for your brain and why you should avoid them.

In addition to the above information, having high IQ is also a great way to help maximize your brain power. Take a look at this opportunity where many people have given good feedback about it.

The Secret to Boosting Your Brain Power Despite Stress

While it is okay to have some stress in our system which may improve attention, boost intelligence and increase memory retention in the short term, having it for a longer period of time can actually do more harm than good. Research suggests that prolonged exposure to stress can even bring brain damage. Therefore, when we are faced with imminent danger, we need to have heightened awareness and the complex ability to deal with the crisis.

These days, even if we rarely experience life threatening situations, we still react as if we are in grave danger. What happens is we release huge amounts of cortisol and other adrenal steroid hormones in our system as a stress response. These stress substances block the formation of new neurons in the hippocampus and prevents the storage of new memories.

Some recent research suggests that chronic stress can lead indirectly to cell death as well. What we don’t realize is that we’re just reacting to our own thoughts of worries and negative thinking. These stress responses remain with us for hours at a time, even getting worse as more anxiety-causing thoughts bring forth more thoughts of the same kind.

Exposing our brain to this kind of damage tremendously reduces our brain’s ability to perform creative problem solving techniques which results to downwards spiral of reduced brain function. Therefore, it is important to manage your stress levels and always think positive. Of course it is always easier to say these things than to actually do them.

Others are gifted with the ability to remain positive despite stress while many others just couldn’t cope and are consistently exposing themselves to harmful body chemicals released during stressful situations. This is where certain tools such as hypnosis and brainwave systems come into the picture and help reduce stress and improve brain power. They will help you cope better with very stressful situations instead of totally abandoning them and denying yourself the ability to perform creative mental solutions to the problem.

Hypnosis and brainwave techniques have been used by various people to help them boost their brain power in much needed situations and it has always worked. I tried it myself and I can’t believe how many positive results it has given me all throughout this time. Check out this hypnosis site that I used. You can do it too. Find out for yourself. Take look also at this brainwave link. A lot of people (including myself) are giving very good feedback about it. Note that your thoughts are not the essence of you. You have the power to not let them overwhelm and control you. But it’s better to face and deal with them with a healthy and positive outlook and perspective. Let hypnosis and brainwave techniques help you in that arena and before you know it, you’re already boosting your brain power and are on your way to a better, happier you.

Let me know what you think. Have you tried hypnosis before? Also, sign up and register to the Newsletter (fill the form above at the right) and email me for any suggestions and comments you may have at Karen@samuelprime.com.

10 Great Hints for Better Brain Power

We always strive to be better at things we do. We want to be smarter, quicker, and brainier. But it’s not enough to be content with the intelligence that we were born with. At this day and age, there are ways you can adapt to help boost your brain power. Here are some more like I promised:

1. Challenge your mind Are you familiar with brainstorming? You think of words or things that are connected with the subject at hand. In this instance, we will do it the other way around by thinking of two subjects that are different from each other. For example, moon and a spider. Then try to think of as many links between them as you can. This will stretch your mind and break down the critical ability that interferes with the flow of ideas.

2. Flex and relax Relaxing can help increase one’s ability to perform better especially if it involves mental exercises. In taking tests for example, if you flex your muscles for 30 minutes, it will boost your ability to solve puzzles and complicated problems by 25%.

3. Spell it out If you have a problem that seems to be so hard to solve, try to write it down and spell it out. Make a web of connecting ideas if you have to. This way, your mind will be able to visualize an answer to your problem more clearly.

4. Do something new When you do something new (whether it be learning a new language, traveling, doing crafts and beads or learning a new sport), your brain forms new dendrites which help boost memory power and increase IQ in the process.

5. Do some aerobic exercises Don’t you ever wonder why there’s always physical education classes in schools? This is because aerobic exercises aides in increasing fluid intelligence (learning something new), helps your frontal lobes in processing information like making advanced plans and makes you good at making quick decisions. Do this for at least 30 minutes a week.

6. Off to dreamland you go It is important to always get a good night’s sleep every night. Uninterrupted sleep will result to better brain functioning the next day and when done consistently, will definitely boost your intelligence and mental performance. Therefore, it is important to avoid caffeine few hours before sleeping. Instead, drink milk to help induce sleep.

7. Take a walk A study found out that walking for at least 45 minutes three times a week can increase a person’s capability to multitask by up to 15%. This is because walking increases blood flow thereby bringing more oxygen to the brain.

8. Be a morning person A person’s brain is at its sharpest early in the morning. Maximize this time and tackle as much problems and tasks as you can. When taking exams, it’s also better to take it at this time as it increases your chances of getting a high score.

9. Eat frequently and in moderation By eating healthy food in small quantity many times in a day, you don’t deprive yourself of nutrients you need and at the same time, you don’t deprive your brain of the sugar it needs to work at its best. When you eat huge amounts of meal at a time, sugar goes to your digestive tract away from your brain.

10. Take lots of Vitamin B Vitamin B can be found in oats, chicken, tuna, whole wheat and bananas. They aide in memory and help manufacture / repair damaged brain tissues.

Furthermore, having a high IQ also helps boost your brain power. You may visit this site and see for yourself how you can have better IQ. Many users have given positive feedback about it. You may also try hypnosis for yourself and let me know how your experience was. A lot of other people used it and gave good feedback as well.

Stay tuned to learn more about IQ and how you can have more of it. ‘Til my next post. Feel free to email me at Karen@samuelprime.com should you have further inquiries, suggestions and comments.

7 Cool Tips to Boost Your IQ

It has been believed before that a person’s IQ is solely determined by that person’s genes. But thanks to modern science, it has been proven time and again that this is not the case. A person’s IQ is quite malleable and with the right tools to boost one's IQ, like improving one’s working memory, anyone can enjoy having increased intelligence over time.

Of course genetics and the early gestation period play a large role in determining one’s IQ but it is not the end all and be all of having a high IQ. If you want to get the results that you want, try the following tips on how you can boost your IQ:

1. Play games Whether it be on your PSP, Xbox, computer, Wii, etc., playing games will help your mind work at spectacular speeds, strategizing and coming up with ways to win the game.

2. Sketch it It’s like keeping a diary at your bedside table. But instead of writing words, sketch the things you see in your mind. This is very crucial in developing complex reasoning abilities.

Bold 3. Solve puzzles Try not to ignore the puzzle pages when you browse through magazines and newspapers. Put some effort in solving them instead. Solving puzzles is a very good exercise for your brain. It helps extend dendrites (those tentacle-like branches in your brain that help carry massive information) in your brain and aide in the overall improvement of memory. Your mind will become sharper and you will be better at coming up with creative solutions.

4. Choose your scent There are particular scents and fragrances that help boost concentration, enable one to think clearly and lessen mistakes. Lemon scents, for instance, activates your hippocampus; Lavender relaxes your mind and helps you think more clearly; Jasmine can stimulate and excite your senses; etc.

5. Watch TV Game Shows There was a study done in UK that found watching The Weakest Link for at least 30 minutes can raise your IQ by six points while a documentary can increase your IQ by four points while the famous show Friends can boost your IQ by one point.

6. Wishful Thinking
Daydreaming is not bad as long as it’s not what you do the entire day. When you free your mind, you are detoxifying your brain and letting it rest and recuperate from stressful stimuli. Do this for 10 minutes at least every day and see how your mind works better after.

7. The power of multitasking
By doing at least two things at the same time, like listening to a radio while watching TV, can help your mind focus on something much better. Try getting information from both TV and radio then focus on one after the other. This exercise boosts your brain power and makes you better at focusing on things/work at hand.

Try these cool tips and experience a boost in your IQ. More to come on my next posts. For now, you may check out the other secrets and ways on how you can increase your brain power. Many users have given positive feedback about them including myself. It never is too late to want to be smarter. They worked so well for me and continue to do so. Four Things You Should Know About Hypnosis & How It Can Boost Your Intelligence

Going into hypnosis is a tool you can use if you want to boost your brain power. I have tried it and it worked. I have become more focused, there’s clarity in my thoughts that wasn’t there before, I can understand everything a lot better and faster, I am challenged with new knowledge instead of becoming overwhelmed and insecure when faced with tons of new learning materials and I am able to immediately deal with problems and find fantastic solutions. Hypnosis has helped boost my brain power in more ways than I have ever imagined, it has increased my intelligence & memory capacity and I have never been a lot prouder of myself. If it worked for me, I believe it will work for you too.

On the other hand, I’d understand if you would have some preconceived notions about hypnosis and this is what I’d like to discuss with you today. These things that you are about to learn will help clarify your concerns about hypnosis. At the end of this post, I am confident that like me, you will want to try it out for yourself so you may start enjoying its full benefits and be able to enjoy having increased intelligence for the first time in your life. Hypnosis changed a lot of people’s lives. And it will change yours too, if you allow it.

These are the four most important things you should know about hypnosis:

1) Not all kinds of hypnosis are the same.

Like anything, there is the good, the bad, and the neutral kind of hypnosis. Not all hypnosis go by the famous lines “You are sleepy and your eyes are getting weary” kind of stuff. There may be the subliminal kinds but the best ones are those that are based on proven psychological principles that will help give you what you need and want at the quickest and most comfortable way possible. If it’s a boost in brain power that you want, then that’s what you’ll have.

Why is it that not all people can be hypnotized?
Blame it on the notion that people who are being hypnotized are being ordered around. Of course people wouldn’t want that and so they resist and therefore are not hypnotized. When the truth about hypnosis is that you get to experience a blissful sensation of being gently directed how to use your mind to create an incredible state of internal calm, you will learn just what hypnosis is, and why you can do it.

2) Hypnosis is all natural, 100% part of being human

The capability to be able to go into hypnosis is as much a part of being a human being as movement or speech for instance. It’s always been a part of you but you just don’t know it. If it weren’t for hypnosis, you wouldn’t have learned what you so naturally do now like eat, drink, sleep, learn, experience different kinds of feelings, etc. That’s the low level kind of hypnosis doing its thing. With clinical hypnosis (the one that I had), that’s when you get to unlock the powers within you like being able to boost your brain power, increase your IQ, improve your memory and so much more!

It’s definitely a good thing that these days, hypnosis is being recognized as a scientific tool in helping people develop themselves and unlock their potential. It’s no longer linked to magic and wizards like it used to before.

3) You are the one in control.

When you are hypnotized, it is because you were willing to be hypnotized. But unlike what many believed before, you are not being ordered around. You are still the one in control. You are still aware of everything that is happening around you and any time you feel like getting out of hypnosis, you actually can! It’s just that, with hypnosis, comes wonderful sensations, clarity and feelings of being one with the universe. You are fully relaxed and focused. Who would want to get out of that?! Of course, you would want to stay in that fantastic state of being for as long as you can. But like I said, any time you want it to end, you can. You are always in control.

4) Hypnosis is so far from sleeping

This is connected with the previous aspect of hypnosis. When you are hypnotized, you are not asleep. Like I said, you are aware of what’s going on around you and you are in control. You can always come out of hypnosis if you wanted to. Hypnosis is just like being under deep meditation. You just have a stronger focus internally and you experience wonderful sensations.

Now that you know these things about hypnosis, it will be easier for you to understand why I am using it as a tool to boost my brain power and why I would like to share it with all of you.

Do check out the other tools and ways I have shared on how you can increase your brain power and boost your IQ. It never is too late to want to be smarter. They worked so well for me and continue to do so. Five Quick Tips To Increase Your IQ

Are you tired of being called ‘slow, dumb, or stupid’ by your family and peers? Increase your IQ! Come and join MENSA!

Did that statement sound way disconnected and preposterous? I’m sure the phrase seemed so absurd. No matter, it’s not too far fetched. Take me for instance… I used to be that ‘slow, dumb, or stupid’ girl. As I said in my first blog post :
“You see, I was never considered 'smart'. I was a simple housewife, raised my 3 beautiful smart kids and living my small life. I could not get into a good college, my GMAT score was laughable and I could not find a job after the recession started…. Now, after about 5 months into the change, I got accepted to Mensa, I have aced GMAT (just to check if it works :) ) and may apply to some fancy university :)
Increasing your IQ is no longer a thing of the past. It doesn't matter whether you are born stupid or smart. Things can always change because our brain can really do wonders! After all, we’re only using a fraction of it most of the time. What more if we really try to tap into our brain’s maximum potential and apply it our daily lives?! I bet we can do a lot of positive changes in our world today. But let’s not get way ahead of ourselves here. First things first.

Those who are interested about MENSA, you are probably asking how can one be admitted into it? If you check out their website, mensa.org, it basically says there that you just have to belong to the top 2% of any qualified MENSA exam then you’ll be on your way to benefiting from this very exclusive and elite association. Here are some steps you can take to help prepare you for MENSA:

1. Increase your IQ by following the tips I’ve given you before. They are simple, practical and very easy to do.

2. For a more scientific approach, try hypnosis and stimulation of brain cells though waves.

3. Consistently eat, exercise and sleep right to give your brain a steady supply of oxygen and nutrients.

4. Take some free IQ tests online. This will give you an idea of what the test will cover. It will also serve as a practice ground for your mental faculties. By subjecting your brain to a series of IQ tests, you flex your brain muscles, expand its learning capacities and increase your IQ in the process.

5. Relax and enjoy.

I will LOVE to hear your comments, suggestions and anything you want to share. In addition to these tips, there's also another way to increase your IQ. Check out this site. Many people have given positive feedback about it.

Five Interesting Facts About The Brain (Part II)

In my previous post, I’ve mentioned five interesting facts about our brain. Hopefully, you were able to appreciate it and from there, putsome ideas to action so you may be able to take care of your brain some more, be able to boost your mental power and increase your intelligence in the process. On this post, I will share with you five more interesting facts about it. Some of you may already be familiar with these ideas but it doesn’t hurt to refresh one’s memory about it. And with a healthy brain, comes a wealth of greatness for humankind.

1. Your Brain is Nocturnal

You may not believe me when I say this but our brain tends to get more active at night. I know that its during day time when we are involved with so many tasks and activities. But at night, our brain works harder. This happens when we fall asleep. That’s when the brain does its own thing like repairing damages, rejuvenating itself, dreaming so it can connect to the conscious level, fix what needs to get fixed. No wonder that the next day, you feel like a brand new person all over again! This just means that the brain was able to do a good job the night before. For tjos who don’t feel this way, it just means that you need to allow your brain to get a good night’s rest so it can do its job well and in turn, be more useful for you during the day.

2. Life of Neurons is Not Fair

Neurons, like people, are not created alike. Some travel as fast as hundreds of kilometers per hours. Some travel as slow as ½ meter per second. It all depends on the type of neauron and what kinds of information are being carried to the brain.

3. Neurons are like growing babies

Scientists and researchers in the field of Neurology believed for a long time that neurons don’t regenerate. They thought that whatever it is that we are born with, we are stuck with it. I actually remember my teacher back in Middle School telling us the same thing. However, recent research had found out that this is not the case. Neurons do grow and replace dying ones. This poses the possibility of someday curing illnesses in the central nervous system such as Alzheimer and other kinds of brain damage.

4. 80% of Your Brain is Water

I’ve mentioned in my previous post that our brain uses 20% of the oxygen we breathe. The rest of the 80% is water. Our brain needs water in order to fully function well. So the next time you experience headache, before you swallow that aspirin you keep in your pill box, drink a glass of water first. Most probably, you are just dehydrated and need a quick supply of good old O2. This is also why alcohol is extremely bad for your brain. It is a diuretic which means, it takes away water from your body as well as your brain. SO the next time you get hung-over, drink plenty of water. That should ease your intoxication. Better yet, don’t drink alcohol at all.

5.No Pain in The Brain

The pink squishy material that is made of 80% water itself does not feel pain at all. It is the pieces of tissue that surrounds it that helps alerts you when your brain is in possible danger. But taken it itself, though it consists of a lot of blood vessels, has no pain receptors, therefore, it cannot really feel pain. This is why in most brain surgeries, patients are able to undergo such operations by being awake.

Now that you know more fascinating trivia about the brain, I can only hope that you will take better care of it. Our brain is a wonderful thing with a lot of potential to help bring greatness in our life in general. It has the capacity to keep on developing and improving itself. With our brain, we can be smarter, we can boost our brain power, we can be more intelligent.

In addition to the information on this post, it also helps if you have high IQ. You may check this site for more information. Many users have already given very good comments and assessments about it.

If you have more trivia for us, please email me at Karen@samuelprime.com.

Five Interesting Facts About The Brain (Part I)

Human brains are actually like super computers. How many times has it been depicted in movies that ultimately, our goal is to be able to produce a human machine similar to that kid in the AI movie with super brain power? Why create something like us when we already have us? Sounds crazy? But the truth is, our human mind can do so many things especially if used in its maximum potential. We can boost our own IQ, in crease our memory and so much more!

For this post, I will share with you some interesting facts about our brain. Aren’t you curious why it’s been the subject of studies for decades now? Even in movies, Frankenstein stole one for his monster, zombies in many horror flicks have sought them out. There really are a lot of amazing things about our brain, you see.

For me, our brain is the most important part of our body. In dying situations, even when the heart beat has been long been gone, if there are still minor impulses detected in the brain, the patient won’t be considered dead…yet. The moment the brain is no longer transmitting impulses, then that’s the time the patient is pronounced clinically dead. Well, think about it… we most often than not take our brains for granted. But without it, how can we process all these information all around us? How can we hear, smell, feel, taste? Actually, without it, we’re nothing. The heart can be transplanted. But the brain? Good luck with that!

Moreover, without the powers our human brains can do, we would’ve probably still be living in the stone age. The only good thing about that would be living in an unspoiled world. But that’s another story.

We wouldn’t be experiencing the countless amazing things we have today --- great cities, electronics, computers, airplanes, jets, ships, etc… We wouldn’t have that hunger for more knowledge and advanced way of life. We wouldn’t know the world as we know it.
Setting aside the power of our minds, the human brain in itself is a very fascinating organ or our body. Here are some facts that will tell you why.

1. Terabyte Storage Capacity

You know what a gigabyte is right? Anybody who ever uses a computer knows what a gig is. But a terabyte is so much more than that. Quantitatively, its storage capacity is equivalent to over a thousand gigs.

Scientific studies have discovered that the human brain is capable of storing information of up to 1,000 terabytes. Imagine Britain’s National Archives which currently stores around 900 years of information for an entire country. That is only equivalent to 70 terabytes. The human brain can do more than that with plenty of storage room to spare! Amazing! Who needs a computer when we can do that? Our brain is so much more powerful than any super advanced computer we have right now. So to those who don’t believe that they have the capacity to learn more, to be smarter, to increase their IQ, well, think again. Maybe, this is what the Catholic Bible means when it was written that humans are created in the image and likeness of God, the creator. We have so much potential for brain power inside of us. We just need to unlock it and use it well. Then we can be like God, making greater and bigger things for the good of mankind.

2. Electricity in our Brain

I remember watching this movie, The Secret, where Bob Proctor said that we have the power to light an entire city for a week. He is right. This is because our brain uses electrical impulses…electrical power, generated by our body, in order to operate.

Even while we are sleeping, our brain uses the same electrical power as that of a 10-watt light bulb. That’s actually the caricature of a man with a light bulb on top if his head came from when depicting the act of thinking. This is also the reason why electrical gadgets and appliances that emit electrical impulses like cell phones, power lines, etc., can obstruct brain functions and cause damage in the long run. So try to stay away from these things when you can.

3. High Speed Electrical Highway

Pain is good, did you know that? It’s a signal that tactile sensations, whether it be pain, heat, or cold is immediately sent from your toe for instance straight to the brain at a speed of 170 miles per hour! This is why we immediately feel these things even if the point of origin is so far from your brain. It gets processed fast, so fast that it’s almost instantaneous. Without it, you won’t notice that your hand is burning or that your foot is getting pricked.

4. Hungry for Oxygen

Our brain is only a small part of our body, 2% to be exact. Yet, it uses 20% of the oxygen we breathe so it can keep on functioning. This is the reason that without oxygen, we die so fast. We can not eat for weeks and survive. We can not drink water for days and live. But a few minutes without oxygen, we die. Because without oxygen, the brain will stop functioning. When it does, those messages that go to and fro our different body parts will stop causing an immediate shut down of our internal organs then we die. The end of life for us. So to all smokers out there or those people who are constantly exposed to fumes and carbon emissions, save your brain and stop smoking, find a different job and change your lifestyle.

5. More Dreams for the Smart Ones

Scientists have studied that those people with higher IQ dream more often. But don’t fret if you are among those who don’t dream at all. Most probably you just don’t remember it. Most of your dreams last only for a few minutes and unless you wake up while we are in REM stage, it would be difficult to remember anything from your dream at all. This is also why you are told to keep a dream diary on your bedside table so you may record it the moment you wake up, if you remember anything at all.

These are just some of the interesting facts about our brain. Knowing these things can help you take care of it more so you may be able to maximize its use. By doing so, you are helping yourself get smarter, have higher IQ and increase your overall brain power.

There are also other ways to help increase your IQ. There's brainwave technique and there's hypnosis. I've tried them before and they worked. Many users have already found them very useful. Check them out and see for yourself.

I will share more in my next post. If you have questions, feel free to email me at Karen@samuelprime.com.
